>HURRICANE CHARLEY MEETS ITS MATCH AGAINST OMNISITE

>

Devastates the East Coast

Greenwood, Indiana – September 15, 2004 – OmniSite (www.omnisite.com), the leader in low cost easy to use monitoring equipment for the wastewater industry, today announced that on August 13th and 14th, Florida and South Carolina were devastated by Hurricane Charley. Around 4 PM on August 13th, Hurricane Charley crossed and struck land just North of Fort Myers in Punta Gorda, Florida. The Hurricane had winds of 145 mph and wind gusts up to 180 mph. With winds that strong it was classified as a Category 4 Hurricane. The National Weather Service categorizes Hurricanes on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the strongest.

The Hurricane continued Northeast through Orlando, finally leaving Florida through Daytona Beach. Unfortunately the storm was not over, on Saturday August 14th around 11 AM the Hurricane again hit land this time in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. By this time the winds had slowed down, but with strong winds, the storm was still considered a Category 1 Hurricane. All in all, Hurricane Charley caused 14 billion dollars of damage and caused 17 deaths.

OmniSite had several customers in the path of the Hurricane, including City of Fort Myers, Florida (35 Units) and the City of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (100 units). One bit of good news was that these cities were using OmniSite’s wireless alarm monitors to watch over their sewage lift stations, and the equipment worked flawlessly.

Robert Graineri, an Information Systems Technician for the City of Myrtle Beach, had this to say about the OmniSite equipment “We want to thank (OmniSite) for all the hard work that went into the OmniSite system. It worked great!! Our supervisors could not have been more pleased with the results generated by the OmniSite product and staff!”

OmniSite sends its deepest regrets to the victims and family members effected by Hurricane Charley. For more information on how to monitor your sewage lift station or other piece of equipment with OmniSite wireless alarm monitors, please contact OmniSite at 317-885-6330.
